NYC building violations lookup by address

Type an address, get every open violation against its tax lot: the count, the hazard class, and the actual records, newest first, with the section of code cited and any balance due. The rows come straight from the city’s registers at the moment you ask, so they can be newer than any nightly database.

Open citywide right now

  • 272,798 active DOB/ECB violations
  • 2,847,119 open HPD housing maintenance violations

As of 27 Aug 2026, from the city’s own registers.

The two registers, briefly

  • DOB / ECB: construction and building-code violations issued by the Department of Buildings, heard at the Environmental Control Board. These carry fines and often a balance due.
  • HPD: housing maintenance code violations in residential buildings, in three classes. A is non-hazardous, B is hazardous, and C is immediately hazardous, which comes with the shortest cure deadlines.

Both are attached to the tax lot. A large complex can carry many buildings on one lot, in which case the lookup says so rather than letting a lot-wide count read as one building’s.
